Christopher Bruce has been a crime analyst since 1994, first at the
Cambridge (MA) Police Department, and now at the Danvers (MA) Police Department. He became President of the International Association of Crime Analysts in 2007 after serving as Vice President for six years. He also served as President of the Massachusetts Association of Crime Analysts from 2000-2004.
Chris earned his B.S. in Criminal Justice from Northeastern University
in 1996 and his M.S. in Criminal Justice from Tiffin University in
2006. He has served as a Lecturer at Suffolk University's Graduate Program in Criminal Justice since 2001, at at Tiffin University since 2006. He has presented on crime analysis and mapping at numerous conferences, conventions, and academies. He became an IACA Certified Law Enforcement Analyst (CLEA) in 2006.
In 2004, Chris served as the senior editor for the IACA's book Exploring Crime Analysis, and in 2005, he co-wrote Better Policing with Microsoft Office with Mark Stallo. His personal interests include jazz, classical music, musical theatre, classic films, and a lifelong quest to find America's best steakhouse. |

Susan Smith is a crime analyst for the Shawnee, Kansas Police Department. During her 15-year career in law enforcement, she has held positions criminal intelligence, technical services and crime analysis. She previously worked at the Overland Park Police Department, in the Kansas State Prison and the Kansas State Parole Office.
Susan has contributed to various publications related to crime analysis and crime mapping for various professional journals and magazines. In 2003, she co-authored the book, Getting Started in Crime Analysis: Basic Resources for Criminal Justice Practice.
Susan is the crime analysis instructor for the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) and has lectured for the various state and regional associations and for the Johnson County (KS) Regional Police Academy. She is currently an adjunct professor at both Johnson County Community College and the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
Susan is the President and former Training Coordinator of the Mid-America Regional Crime Analysis Network (MARCAN) and is the Vice President of Administration for the International Association of Crime Analysts (IACA), having also previously served on the Executive Board in the position of Secretary. She has been the committee chair the IACA’s annual training conference, the training series implementation committee, and the publications committee.
Susan represents crime analysts on a federal Technology Working Group which helps identify gaps in technology in the field. She is a Crime Mapping and Analysis Program (CMAP) Certified Instructor under NLECTC.
Susan was the 2002 recipient of the Presidential Award for Meritorious Contributions to the IACA. She was the 2006 recipient of the Sister Mary Mark Orr Pioneer Spirit Alumni Award for outstanding career success.
Susan holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Services/Criminal Justice and a Master of Science in Management, both from University of Saint Mary in Leavenworth, Kansas.

Roman West lives in Melbourne Australia and is a Sworn Police Officer with the Victoria Police since 1985 and has been a member of the IACA since 1996. His interest in Crime Intelligence Analysis came about in 1992 when I was seconded to work with a specialised Asian Community Policing Unit. From there he formalised his Crime Intelligence/Analysis training through the Victoria Police and various other courses.
He has worked in various Crime and Regional Departments as a Crime/Intelligence Analyst with some varying successes using Crime Analysis. In 1997 he received a Scholarship to attend overseas and look at various Crime Analysis Units with the aim to bring back ‘best practices’ for the Victoria Police
Until recently he was working at the State Intelligence Division of the Victoria Police which encompasses the Operations Intelligence Unit, Crime Linking Unit, Human Source Management Unit, Geospatial Analysis Unit, Strategic Analysis Unit and the Sex Offenders Registry. He has currently taken up a secondment position with the Australian Federal Police within the new Aviation Uniform Policing Model which has the responsibility of policing airports around Australia.

Carolyn Cassidy has been a Crime Analyst with the Gainesville,
Florida Police Department for four years. Throughout
this time she has had the opportunity to experience
great training, attend several conferences and has worked
with some outstanding people along the way.
In 2001, Carolyn received a Masters Certificate in
Crime Mapping and Data Analysis from the University
of Central Florida. She has been a member of the Florida
Crime and Intelligence Analyst Association since 2002,
when she came on board with GPD. Carolyn became the
Secretary of the International Association of Crime
Analysts in May 2004.
In December 2005, after completing the Florida Department
of Law Enforcement Analyst Academy, Carolyn became an
FDLE Certified Crime Intelligence Analyst. She received
her Masters in Public Administration from the University
of Central Florida in May 2006.
As part of the Administrative and Technical Services
Bureau, Carolyn provides Tactical and Investigative
Analysis to Operational and Investigative personnel,
as well as various administrative projects assigned
by her command.

Erika Pyne has been a Crime Analyst with the Ventura County Sheriff's Department in California since July 2005. Before working for Ventura County, Erika interned with the Crime Analysis Unit at the San Diego Police Department while pursuing her Certification as a Crime and Intelligence Analyst through the California Department of Justice.
She received her Bachelors in Business Administration, Marketing
emphasis, at the University of San Diego (in California) along with
playing Division I tennis for three years. After working for a year,
she moved to New York City and received her Master's in Criminal Justice, Criminology and Deviance specialization, at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, and discovered her passion for the Crime Analysis field. While at John Jay, Erika received the annual Claude E. Hawley Memorial Award, which is presented to a graduate student who has achieved outstanding academic distinction, as demonstrated by a distinguished Master's thesis or other scholarly academic achievement.
Erika is also a member of the Southern California Crime and
Intelligence Analyst Association and the California Crime and Intelligence Analyst Association. Not only is she dedicated to promoting crime analysis within her own agency/county, but she is also eager to be a part of this prestigious association, IACA, and to promote crime analysis at an international level.

Noah Fritz is the Deputy Director of the National Law Enforcement and Corrections Technology Center and Founder of the Crime Mapping and Analysis Program (CMAP)—a Department of Justice sponsored training and technical assistance program. Noah started his career as a crime analyst and supervisor at the Tempe (AZ) Police Department. Noah is also serving a second term as President for the International Association of Crime Analysts.
Most notable accomplishments include PhD and a Master’s degree in Justice Studies from Arizona State University; and undergraduate degrees in Sociology and Criminal Justice from Illinois State University. He has authored articles in the Sociological Quarterly, the Encyclopedia of Criminology and Deviant Behavior, publications for the National Institute of Justice, IACA’s Exploring Crime Analysis, and has appeared nationally and internationally on TV and radio as an advocate for crime mapping and crime analysis.
Noah is currently teaching a Graduate course for the University of Colorado-Denver entitled Managing Information and Technology Systems for the Police Leadership Executive Development Program leading to a master’s degree in Public Affairs. He is also an adjunct professor in the Sociology/Criminology Department at the University of Denver and teaches classes on Research Methods, Social Statistics, Juvenile Delinquency, and Applied Criminology: Crime Mapping and Analysis. |
