What is RSS?

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. It is a format for sharing information and an easy way for you to monitor information that's important to you. With RSS, the content you want can be delivered directly to you without cluttering your inbox with email messages. This content is called a feed. You can access a feed using a feed reader.

What Is an RSS Reader?

An RSS reader is a program that collects and displays RSS feeds. It allows you to scan headlines from a number of news sources in a central location.

Most modern browsers such as FireFox, Safari and Internet Explorer have built in RSS readers. There are also online readers such as Google Reader. In addition, email applications such as Microsoft Outlook 2007 and 2010 (and Outlook 2003 with a free add-in) support RSS feeds.

How to Use RSS Feeds
